Lending has been the prime business line of FundServiceBank throughout the whole period since the Bank was established. The Bank provides loans and other credit services to all sectors of the national economy, but primarily to industry, and especially to high-tech science-based segments of production, the aerospace industry, R&D. Lending is the main source of the Bank’s income.
In 2007, FundServiceBank increased the volume of loans provided to corporate customers. The Bank also introduced some new up-to-date credit products, developed new upgraded lending arrangements to meet interests and needs of customers, offering them carefully tailored and expedient solutions.
As of January 1, 2008, loan portfolio made up RUR 12.4 billion – by 43 percent more than at 2006 year-end (RUR 8.7 billion), while the aggregate volume of loans provided for companies and enterprises in various sectors of economy increased significantly, from RUR 24 billion up to RUR 31 billion, showing an impressive growth of 30 percent. Loans to industrial producers made up the greater part of this total (including loans for R&D projects, technical and technological modernisation, space services etc.).
The Bank also made arrangements to develop credit products for lease finance to meet growing demand from customers for leasing programmes, which allow manufacturers to modernize production facilities at lesser expense and avoiding large single spending.
Along with traditional lending solutions FundServiceBank has provided customers with bill credits (issuing promissory notes) at a lower interest rate than the rate for regular loans. These types of lending allowed customers to reduce expenses and gave them an opportunity to raise funds at lower cost.
